Read the size before you order
This is the part people get wrong, so it is worth being blunt about it. Each piece is 30 cm x 40 cm, roughly the size of an A3 sheet. It is made to sit on a small or medium home mandir murti, a framed photo, a kalash or a chowki. It covers the head and shoulders of a murti around a foot tall.
It is not a full size chunri and it is not a dupatta. If you are looking for something to drape over a large pandal idol or to wear yourself, this is not that product. Our size guide explains the difference and which one you actually need.
How the set maps to Navratri 2026
Sharad Navratri 2026 runs from Sunday 11 October to Monday 19 October, with Vijayadashami on Tuesday 20 October. Because the colour of each day follows the weekday it falls on, the 2026 sequence is different from last year’s.
Seven of the nine colours are in this set exactly. Two are not, and we would rather tell you that here than have you count them on the doorstep.

Draping it without it sliding off
- Fold once along the long edge if the murti is small, so the fringe sits at the hem rather than pooling.
- Drape from the crown, letting the two front edges part over the face rather than covering it.
- Tuck the back corners behind the shoulders, or under the murti’s base if it lifts.
- On a framed photo, run it along the top edge and let both ends fall down the sides.
- On a kalash, wrap once around the neck below the coconut and let the fringe hang.
Care
Hand wash only, in cold water, and never wring it. The gota band holds its shape if you press the water out flat between your palms and dry it in shade. Net yellows in direct sun. Store the ten folded flat rather than bunched, and the sequin booti will not catch on the fringe.
Questions people ask
Will this fit my murti?
If your murti is up to roughly a foot tall, yes, and it will cover the head and shoulders the way a chunri is meant to. Above that it will read as a small odhni on a large idol rather than a full drape.
Can I wear it?
No. At 30 cm x 40 cm it is a murti vastra, not a garment. A chunri meant for wearing runs about two metres.
Does it cover all nine Navratri colours?
Seven of the nine for 2026 exactly. Purple on day eight and peacock green on day nine are not in the set, so most households use the maroon for purple and repeat the green on the last day.
Is the fringe on all four sides or just the ends?
All four sides. The gota band runs right round the piece and the gold fringe sits outside it on every edge, so there is no plain cut edge anywhere.
What can I use it on besides a murti?
A framed deity photo, a kalash at Ghatasthapana, a chowki, a Satyanarayan patta or the pothi during a paath. Anything on the mandir that you would otherwise leave bare.
How do I keep the sequins from coming off?
Hand wash rather than machine, and do not rub the booti directly. The sequins are stitched, not glued, but net is a light fabric and friction is what loosens the thread.
